7 men and 2 women aged between 18 and 41 have been arrested in a drugs operation against cocaine sales in Torrevieja, charged with illegal association, document forgery and cocaine trafficking, believed to have been carried out in local bars and nightclubs. The operation, codenamed Milor, began nine months ago when Guardia Civil detected drugs sales in leisure areas. On April 16 last year, they seized 626 grams of cocaine and arrested one man, believed to be transporting the drugs from Madrid, leaving them in lockers in supermarkets and shopping centres in Torrevieja, and then giving the keys to the members of the organization. He revealed that one of the ringleaders planned to return to Madrid for more drugs in January, and the assistance of the Guardia Civil in Albacete was required. Blockades were set up on the motorway between Madrid and Alicante, and in Chinchilla, where the suspect was stopped and arrested with more than a kilo of rock cocaine found in his car together with plastic bags containing ground coffee used to throw tracker dogs off the scent. Eight searches were carried out and police seized more cocaine, a press, utensils used for cutting and preparing drugs, audiovisual and computer equipment and money in cash.
